  While the horses are lovely and the instructors are very kind, the lessons are very basic and students do not progress at even a moderate pace. This is a stable for young children with little or no experience riding. Older beginners or intermediate students should look elsewhere. The owner, Deborah Pearson-Moyers, is difficult to communicate with. My daughter is an older beginner/intermediate rider. We are new to the area and she is looking for a place to improve her horsemanship and make long-term friendships. She has taken one semester and a summer camp of lessons at Blue Skies. Because of her skill level, she was placed in a group of kids several years younger than herself, which is totally understandable. However, what is unacceptable is how Ms. Pearsaon-Moyers responds to questions or requests from parents. When I asked if there was a class with kids her own age, Ms. Pearson-Moyers responded to my simple request with what amounted to a character assassination of my daughter. Ms. Moyers is never at my daughter's lessons and hardly knows her. She is a very hardworking, horse loving kid, who at the camp helped the younger and less experienced kids groom their horses. This does not match up with Ms. Moyers' claim that she "barely grooms, tacks up or attends to her horse." It seems that Ms. Pearson-Moyers takes any request from her students as a criticism of her program. Her approach to communication with parents is completely inappropriate. When I called Ms. Moyers to clarify my request to place my daughter with her peers, she basically said, "we are not here to make friends." I find this attitude at such a slow paced, non-competitive stable very odd indeed.
